Breast swelling, tenderness, nodules and lumps can usually be corrected entirely by nutritional means. It is necessary to restrict intake of methylxanthines (found in coffee, tea, chocolate, and colas), reduction of which has been shown to be effective in reducing fibrocystic breast disease. It is also necessary to ensure that one's daily dietary supplements include at least 600 IU of vitamin E and 1,200 mcg. of iodine, two nutrients that have been documented to reverse benign breast disease. Organic flaxseed oil capsules may also be beneficial. And there could be an underlying low thyroid problem that may need attention.
