Every alcoholic is hypoglycemic. Some are also allergic to alcohol. Unless blood sugar levels are brought under control, there is no way to reduce the body's cravings for alcohol. Many recovering alcoholics switch to sugar and caffeine to satisfy the cravings, but the cravings still persist until body chemistry is brought into balance. To do this it is necessary to restrict all refined and concentrated sugars, all caffeine, and all alcohol. Eat generous amounts of nourishing, whole, unrefined foods. Supplement with PLUS™ Formula. Large amounts of C-Complex, to bowel tolerance, can reduce tissue dependence. [Note: To find bowel tolerance, gradually increase the amount of vitamin C taken daily until it causes diarrhea or excessive intestinal gas, then back off by 10 per cent – e.g., if 10,000 mg. (10 grams) per day causes excessive gas, then take 9,000 mg. daily.]
